Q&A: ‘MLB 10 The Show’ cover athlete and Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer
Less than three weeks from now, baseball season begins with spring training and the arrival of MLB 10 The Show (out March 2, for PlayStation 3, PS2 and PSP). The game’s cover athlete Joe Mauer, the MVP-winning catcher for the American League Central champion Minnesota Twins, recently visited Sony Computer Entertainment’s San Diego studio to do some motion capture work for the game. He also took time to talk with Game Hunters about the game and the upcoming season.
Had you done motion capture before?
I haven’t. It was interesting. Obviously, I was in that skintight suit which wasn’t too flattering. But once I started doing some of the baseball movements that I am used to, I felt a bit more comfortable. Everything from receiving pitches to fielding bunts to swinging the bat and a home run trot. Things like that. Hopefully, I will have a whole lot of home run trots in this game.
