Relax, Twins fans: Joltin’ Joe stays
MVP’s eight-year, $184 million deal has a no-trade clause.
FORT MYERS, FLA. – Tell the Yankees and Red Sox that Joe Mauer isn’t going anywhere soon.
Twins fans finally heard the news they’ve been anxious to hear Sunday, when the team announced it had reached agreement on an eight-year, $184 million contract extension with Mauer.
It means that a young man who was born, raised and became a high school legend in St. Paul stands a better chance of playing his entire career with the hometown team that made him the first pick in the 2001 draft and watched him grow into the American League’s Most Valuable Player.
