The year is 2018. Joe Mauer has just led the Twins to their third World Series title of the decade, collected his seventh batting title and won his fourth MVP award in perhaps his finest overall season (30 home runs, 113 RBI, .354 batting average). He’s still sporting his trademark sideburns. He’s fielding marriage proposals from a new wave of 20-somethings in the stands, even though he’s 35.
