StarTribune: M&M Boys don’t plan to do Derby

The Home Run Derby is a staple of All-Star week. Justin Morneau is a former champion. Joe Mauer is a former participant.
But the Twins’ two All-Stars don’t plan on participating in the event next Monday in Anaheim, Calif.
Morneau, the 2008 champion, was asked recently to compete but plans on declining. He slumped badly during the season half of last season, and part of the reason was a sore back that was eventually diagnosed as a broken veterbra. He was knocked out for
the final three weeks of the season and missed the postseason.
