Anytime Fitness Blog – Gearing up for a big finish!

Hello again everyone. It’s Labor Day, and that means summer is winding down. I wanted to check in and see how everyone was doing. I am enjoying the nice home stretch that we are in now. We are finishing up a series with the Royals before we hit the road again to Cleveland.
For all of you football fans out there, enjoy the opening of the college season this weekend. I am hoping to catch a few games on TV myself.
I can’t believe there is only a month left in the regular season. It seems like just yesterday we were opening up Target Field. I know that I mention it often on this blog, but I can’t thank the Twins fans enough for coming out to support the club like they have all year. Even when we are on the road there is always a pretty vocal section in the stands that is cheering for us. The next month will be crucial for us so hopefully that fan support only continues to grow as we approach October. We have managed to maintain our lead in the division, thanks to some clutch wins. Everyone in the clubhouse is ready for the home stretch and just focusing on winning games. It seems like every night someone new steps up big for us, whether at the plate or in the field. I am sure we will need more big plays as we make the push to October.
How is everyone doing with their summer workouts? I can’t tell you how many Anytime Fitness locations I have seen on the road this year. I am used to seeing them everywhere here at home, but now it seems like in every city we visit there is a new location. Whether on our way from the airport to the hotel, hotel to game, wherever, I will pass an Anytime Fitness gym. With that being said, if you have been missing workouts lately it certainly isn’t for a lack of places to go. With summer quickly ending, it is also a good time to evaluate how you have been working out lately and maybe switching things up.
I know that in Minnesota, a lot of people focus more on cardio in the summer because they are able to some portion of their workouts outside. I know quite a few people who will actually run to and from the gym for their cardio, and do their strength training inside. If that is the case for you, start thinking about how you can transition any cardio back into the gym. The best way to do it is to start accurately recording your runs for both length and time. This way you will be able to duplicate it on the treadmill and measure your progress during the winter. (On a side note, you should also start focusing on your core, shoulders, and back, as I find these to be the most crucial body parts when shoveling snow). Sorry to all of the members who live in warm weather states for harping on the cold, but where I am, it affects a lot of the things in our daily lives. But for now, I am going to head out to the ballpark and enjoy these last few days of summer.
